The Road Home

Thank you for your interest in The Road Home. We welcome you to this slice of the musical life at beautiful Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. Our CD title intentionally features the word “home.” Students often use this word to describe the Luther campus and the sense of community that surrounds this special place. “Home” suggests family, which singers consider their Nordic Choir colleagues to be. And “home” resonates in my heart as I return to the Midwest and to Luther as director of choral activities and conductor of Nordic Choir.

This CD is a compilation of performances by Nordic Choir throughout the Midwest, including our own Center For Faith and Life at Luther; Chicago’s renowned Orchestra Hall; my hometown of Brainerd, Minn.; the birthplace of Lutheranism in Wittenberg, Germany; and our regional concert landmark, Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis. In the final stroke of homecomings, we include a selection from Christmas at Luther 2005, a Christmas celebration that I began in 1980. “Ring Out, Ye Crystal Spheres” features all Luther choirs and our Symphony Orchestra.

Building upon a musical legacy of excellence at Luther College, we look to the future with optimism and joy. Welcome home.
