Audio Help

We offer selected 30-second song samples to help you decide which recordings to buy. Any track followed to the right by a "Listen " means a sample is available. To help insure as many people as possible can listen, samples are usually made available in MP3, RealMedia, and Windows Media formats. To listen, choose the "Listen " to the right of the track under the desired format. If you aren’t sure which format to choose, try them one at a time, moving from left to right, until you find one that works. Most computers already have the RealOne or Windows Media player installed. Both can play MP3s.

Problems

Can't Hear Any Sound

You may need to adjust your computer's sound configuration or update your sound card drivers. To listen to samples, your computer’s sound card and speakers must working properly. If you don’t hear other sounds (such as the fanfare when your computer starts, or the "Welcome" greeting when connecting to AOL), there may be a problem with your sound card or speakers.

Can't Play Clips

If you are experiencing difficulty listening to song samples, you can consult the RealOne Guide, Windows Media Player Support, or the documentation for your media player. In addition, you can check if updated drivers are available for your sound card. Drivers are programs that send information to your sound card; if the drivers on your computer are out of date or have problems, your media player may not be able to play sound. For more information about installing the latest drivers, contact your sound card manufacturer.

Can't Connect to the Server

Please try again later. The problem may be caused by high network traffic. This problem is common between 4:00 and 11:00 p.m. CST.

Sound Quality Problems

The quality of the samples you can play over the Internet is almost never as good as the quality of the recordings available for purchase. Putting samples in formats playable over the Internet reduces the fidelity and adds “artifacts” such as echoes and pops. Other things that affect sound quality include your sound card, speakers, computer settings, connection speed, and the amount of network traffic between your computer and our samples.

If you think the samples don’t sound as good as they should or they pause mid-track, please try playing them again later. The problem may be caused by high network traffic. This problem is common between 4:00 and 11:00 p.m. CST.
