In 2006 she was chosen to conduct the All-Iowa Jr. High girls OPUS honor choir in Ames, Iowa. As a teacher in the public schools of northeast Iowa, Ms. Martin was most proud of the large number of her students who went on to sing in college choirs, of the seventeen who went on to study music in college, and of the eleven who are currently working as music educators.
Mrs. Martin received her BA in vocal music education from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls and her Master of Arts in Music Education with a choral emphasis from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. Her master’s thesis was an investigation into the causes of and cures for breathiness, nasality, and overly dark vocal production. She is a member of the American Choral Director’s Association, Music Educator’s National Conference and the Voice Care Network.
