Mezzo-Soprano Elisabeth Bieber is a graduate of Luther College and the University of Iowa.  This last year, Ms. Bieber finished young artist apprenticeships with both Des Moines Metro Opera, where she covered the role of Mercedes in Carmen, and Utah Symphony and Opera, where she was involved with the world premiere production of Ricky Ian Gordon’s The Grapes of Wrath.  Other operatic roles to her credit include Elizabeth Proctor in The Crucible, Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte, Kate Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, Desireé Armfeldt in A Little Night Music, Mrs. Hayes in Susannah, and the title roles in The Rape of Lucretia and La Cenerentola.  Ms. Bieber has also appeared as an alto soloist in Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Handel’s Messiah, and Barber’s The Prayers of Kierkegaard.  In 2006, Ms. Bieber was a National Semi-Finalist for the NATS American Artists competition and an Encouragement Award winner at the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions for the Upper Midwest Region. This January, Ms. Bieber will be performing the role of the Third Lady in Die Zauberflöte with Cedar Rapids Opera Theatre and the role of Maddalena in Rigoletto with Opera Quad Cities.  Elisabeth currently lives in Iowa City, IA.
