Cathedral Choir

The Cathedral Choir of Luther College is composed of 100 select singers, drawn exclusively from the rich talent of the college’s sophomore class. It is one of seven choirs on Luther’s campus, which create a choral program involving about 550 students each year.

Cathedral Choir participates actively in campus worship, in the annual Christmas At Luther concerts, and at special events and concerts during the academic year. Each spring the ensemble tours throughout the Midwest. The 2008-09 season concluded with a performance of Ein Deutsches Requiem by Brahms with Collegiate Chorale, Nordic Choir and the Luther College Symphony Orchestra.

The current season includes the commissioning of a new work by Norwegian composer Ola Gjeilo, to be premiered at Christmas at Luther 2009. They will also collaborate with Eric Whitacre to present an interest session on his choral works at the 2010 North Central American Choral Directors Association conference in Minneapolis.

Cathedral Choir has been conducted by Sandra Peter since 2005.

Cathedral Choir rehearses M 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.; T, Th 4:15 to 5:15 p.m.
