Luther College’s Carol Hester to give faculty flute recital October 24
Carol Hester, Luther College associate professor of music, will present a faculty flute recital Friday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. in the Noble Recital Hall of the Jenson-Noble Hall of Music on the campus of Luther College.
The performance is open to the public with no charge for admission.
The recital will feature works by 20th century composers including Vincent Persichetti, Carl Nielsen, Gary Schocker, Timothy Andrès, and Benjamin Liebermann.
Jacquelyn Ridder, Luther adjunct professor in music, will accompany Hester on harp.
Hester holds the bachelor of music in flute and piano perfomance from Samford University. She holds the master of music and doctor of music degrees from Florida State University.
At Luther, Hester teaches applied flute, the flute portion of woodwind techniques, and occasionally class piano. She also teaches piano and flute at the college’s Dorian Music Festivals

Hester was the principal flutist of the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra in La Crosse, Wis. for 10 years.
Luther is a selective four-year college located in northeast Iowa. The college has an enrollment of 2,500 students and offers a liberal arts education leading to the bachelor of arts degree in 60 majors and pre-professional programs.
