‘Christmas at Luther College’ Nationally acclaimed holiday concerts Nov. 29 - Dec. 2 in Center for Faith and Life

“Christmas at Luther College,” a musical celebration of the joy, faith and traditions of Christmas, will be performed Nov. 29-30 and Dec. 1-2 in the Luther College Center for Faith and Life Main Hall.

The “Christmas at Luther” concert showcases 600-plus musicians of the college’s vocal and instrumental music ensembles.  The nationally acclaimed concert, now in its 26th year, features traditional Christmas carols and a variety of sacred choral music.

The theme of the 2007 concert is “Arise, Shine: for Thy Light has Come.”  Performance dates are Thursday, Nov. 29, Friday, Nov. 30, Saturday, Dec. 1, and Sunday, Dec. 2.  More than 7,000 people will attend.    

Tickets for all five “Christmas at Luther” performances are sold out.

One of the top college Christmas concerts in the nation, “Christmas at Luther” is aired annually on Minnesota Public Radio and has been broadcast on about 100 public television stations in 25 states.

Minnesota Public Radio will air the 2007 concert Monday, Dec. 17, 8 pm on all MPR classical music stations.  Many public television stations across the country will broadcast Christmas at Luther in December. Check local program listings for public television and radio broadcasts in your area.

The concert includes performances by the Nordic Choir under the direction of Craig Arnold, Cathedral Choir and Pike Kor under the direction of Sandra Peter, Cantorei under the direction of Linda Martin, Collegiate Chorale and Norsemen under the direction of Timothy Peter, Christmas Brass Ensemble under the direction of Fred Nyline, and Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Daniel Baldwin. Organist is Gregory Peterson.
