Luther College ‘Faculty Showcase’ Sept. 2

Luther College music faculty will present a Faculty Showcase Concert on Sunday, Sept. 2 at 4 p.m. in the Center for Faith and Life Main Hall.

The performance is free and open to the public.

The program will include instrumental works by composers such as C.P.E. Bach, Mozart, Schubert, and Bruch, as well as vocal selections from Georges Bizet’s “Carmen,” Mozart’s “Così fan tutte,” and from Handel’s “Israel in Egypt.”

The showcase also includes an organ duet and an original work “toydogmusic for piccolo and toy piano” by Luther composer Brooke Joyce.

Instrumentalists performing on the concert include Heather Armstrong, oboe; Michael Chesher, clarinet; Amy Engelsdorfer, flute; Suzanne Ernst, alto flute; Carol Hester, flute, piano and piccolo; Xiao Hu, piano; Du Huang, piano; Brooke Joyce, toy piano; Miko Kominami, piano; Eric Kutz, cello; Peter Lingen, guitar; Spencer Martin, viola; Jessica Paul, piano; Gregory Peterson, organ; Kathryn Reed-Maxfield, organ; Marjorie Wharton, piano;

Luther voice faculty singing in the showcase include Edwin Andereck, tenor; Tana Field, mezzo-soprano; Karen Kanakis, soprano; Jacob Lassetter, baritone; Beth Ray Westlund, mezzo-soprano; Andrew Whitfield, baritone; and Kristen Wunderlich, soprano.
